Asar-ı Şevket ordered as Kahire and Necm-i Şevket as Muzaffer by the Khidive of Egypt. Contract turned over to the Ottoman Navy, 3/3/1870. Retrofitted: 1890-92 Haliç Shipyards, Istanbul (engine and gun information from this retrofit). Asar-ı Şevket was taken out of service in 1903 and broken up for scrap in 31/7/1909. Necm-i Şevket was in stationary post at Selanik 1899-1909 and as a dormitory ship from 1909 to 1929 in Istanbul. Both ship has seen action during the Russo-Turkish war of (1877-78) "93 Harbi".
